Split 9th Circuit: Police Officer Failed To Show Pretext In Promotion Denial

SAN FRANCISCO - A San Francisco police officer failed to show that race discrimination or retaliation based on prior complaints of race bias caused him to be denied a promotion in 2008, a split Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled June 18 (Frederick Schiff v. The City and County of San Francisco, et al., No. 11-17291, 9th Cir.; 2013 U.S. App. LEXIS 12374).
