Judge Finds Mortgage Lender Cannot Be Liable For Violating Finder's Fee Act

BALTIMORE - A federal judge in Maryland on July 2 awarded summary judgment to a mortgage lender named as a defendant in a class action lawsuit accusing it of conspiring with mortgage brokers to unlawfully charge finder's fees, after finding that lenders cannot be found liable for violating the Maryland Finder's Fee Act (William Aubrey Marshall Jr., et al. v. James B. Nutter & Company, No. RDB-10-3596, D. Md.; 2013 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 92552).
