Judge: Debt Collector's Statement To Consumer Not Harassing Or Oppressive

TRENTON, N.J. - Dismissal of a consumer's Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) lawsuit against a debt collector is proper because the consumer has failed to show that statements made by the debt collector were harassing, oppressive or abusive, a federal judge in New Jersey ruled July 18 (Meyer Safdieh v. AFNI Inc., No. 13-0343, D. N.J.; 2013 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 100247).
