Judge: Consumer Failed To Show Debt Collection Fees Were Not Proper

LAS VEGAS - A consumer has failed to show that a debt collector violated provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) when it sought to collect attorney fees and costs associated with the collection of the consumer's debt, a federal judge in Nevada ruled Sept. 16 (Alwin Carpenter v. Alessi & Koenig LLC, No. 11-1495, D. Nev.; 2013 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 131924).
