Michigan Governor, Treasurer: Bankruptcy Stay Covers Case About Constitutionality

DETROIT - Attorneys for Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and State Treasurer Andrew Dillon on Oct. 7 filed a brief in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan arguing that the automatic stay in the bankruptcy proceeding extends to cover litigation brought by residents who contend that the state law that permits the City of Detroit to file for bankruptcy is unconstitutional (In Re: City of Detroit, No. 13-53846, Chapter 9, E.D. Mich. Bkcy.).
