Mississippi Appeals Court: City On Hook For Firefighter Suffering From Asbestosis

JACKSON, Miss. - A firefighter's hospitalization for smoke inhalation did not put him on notice of a compensable claim for asbestosis, and his unrefuted evidence of exposure supports his workers' compensation benefit claim, the Mississippi Appeals Court held Oct. 22 (City of Jackson, Mississippi v. Sam Sandifer, No. 2012-WC-00197-COA, Miss. App.; 2013 Miss. App. LEXIS 703).
