Tobacco Companies Agree To Run Advertisements Correcting Dishonest Claims

WASHINGTON, D.C. - After fighting the issue in federal courts for years, the nation's three largest tobacco companies agreed Jan. 10 in a District of Columbia federal court to an extensive advertising campaign in which they admit to the public that they lied about the health risks and addictiveness of cigarettes (U.S.A. v. Philip Morris USA Inc., et al., No. 1:99-cv-2496, D. D.C.).
