Mealey's Litigation Procedure - ICSID To Determine Amount Owed By Tanzanian Electric Company

WASHINGTON, D.C. - A tribunal for the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) on March 26 released its award on jurisdiction and liability in an arbitration filed by a Hong Kong bank against the Republic of Tanzania, finding that it has jurisdiction only to determine the amount that is owed by a Tanzanian electric company under a power purchase agreement (Standard Chartered Bank [Hong Kong] Limited v. Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited, No. ARB/10/20, ICSID).
