Mealey's IP/Tech - Federal Circuit Finds Transfer Denial In Groupon Patent Case Was Not 'Clear Abuse'

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Groupon Inc. saw its bid to transfer venue of a patent infringement case denied April 23, when a Federal Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals panel found that the operator of the popular deal-a-day website failed to meet the "exacting standard" necessary to obtain a writ of mandamus to overturn a lower court's denial of its motion to transfer (In Re Groupon Inc., No. 2014-118, Fed. Cir.).
