Mealey's Insurance - Insurer Owes No Coverage For Barge Damages, Minnesota Federal Judge Finds

MINNEAPOLIS - An insurer has no duty to provide coverage to its insured for damages arising out of a sunken barge because the insured violated its duty of uberrimae fidei, which renders the policy at issue void ab initio, a Minnesota federal judge said April 29 (St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Co. v. Abhe & Svoboda Inc., No. 12-1482, D. Minn.).
