Mealey's Toxic Tort/Environmental - Judge Affirms Remediation Settlements On Basis Of Good Faith Negotiations

SAN DIEGO - A federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California on July 10 ruled that settlements reached regarding the costs of remediation of sediment contamination in San Diego Bay were negotiated in good faith and should be approved, despite the City of San Diego's contention that its contribution and indemnity claims should not be barred as a result of the agreements (City of San Diego v. National Steel & Shipbuilding Company, No. 09-2275, S.D. Calif.; 2014 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 94948).
