Mealey's IP/Tech - D.C. Circuit: In-Vehicle Devices Fall Outside Scope Of Statute

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The District of Columbia U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Jan. 28 ruled that a digital audio recorder is covered by the Audio Home Recording Act of 1992 (AHRA) "only if it can make a 'digital audio copied recording' that is also a 'digital musical recording' as that term" is defined in the statute (The Alliance of Artists and Recording Companies Inc. v. DENSO International America Inc., et al., No. 18-7141, D.C. Cir., 2020 U.S. App. LEXIS 2683).
