Jack Townsend, in the Houston office of Townsend & Jones LLP, practiced with the Department of Justice Tax Division from 1969 to 1977 where he served as an appellate attorney for four years and a trial attorney for three years. Since 1977, he has been in the private practice of law since leaving the Department of Justice Tax Division. He has served for many years an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law School, where he teaches classes in Tax Procedure and Tax Crimes. Incident to his teaching, he publishes texts on Tax Procedure and Federal Tax Crimes which are downloadable from his firm's website.
With Larry Campagna, Steve Johnson and Scott Schumacher, he has published a book titled Tax Crimes in the Lexis-Nexis Graduate Tax Series.
