Raymond F. Correio is a senior associate with the defense firm of Pearlman, Borska & Wax, specializing in all aspects of workers’ compensation litigation, from case inception through trial and appeal. Before joining the firm, Ray was a Workers’ Compensation Judge assigned to both the Santa Monica and Marina Del Rey District Offices for approximately twelve years. He retired in September of 2009. Prior to taking the bench, he was with his own firm.
During his tenure as a Workers’ Compensation Judge, he was a frequent speaker on a variety of topics and issues. He is the author of widely used case law summaries on Apportionment and California Sports Law Cases, and continues to be an invited speaker on a variety of workers’ compensation issues and topics. In June of 2010 and June 2013, he was on a panel to help train physicians on apportionment at the CSIMS (California Society of Industrial Medicine) seminars. In 2010, 2012, and in 2013, he was an invited speaker at the Workers’ Compensation Section of the State Bar on recent cases dealing with AMA Guides under Almaraz & Guzman, apportionment, and calculating PD under newly enacted SB863. He has been speaker at the DWC Educational Conferences in Los Angeles and Oakland for many years, on apportionment, as well as California Sports Law Cases in 2014. He was also on a panel on apportionment at the CAAA Winter Convention in 2011, and Defense Attorneys’ Convention in 2013. In 2013, he was named defense attorney of the year by the Workers’ Compensation Section of the State Bar.
