Steven Sonberg, Managing Partner of Holland & Knight LLP, has announced that Douglas Banghart, Kevin Packman, and Victor Perez, have been elected to partnership effective January 1, 2009.
Douglas Banghart is resident in the firm's Boston office and a member of the firm's Business Section. Mr. Banghart practices in the area of state and federal tax credit syndication, partnership taxation, and non-profit organizations. He represents major institutional investors, developers, local governments, community development entities (CDEs), and non-profit organizations, primarily in real estate redevelopment projects. He has extensive experience in closing new markets tax credit leverage fund transactions, including as lead attorney on the largest new markets transaction ever closed, and twinned historic and new markets tax credit transactions. He speaks frequently on issues related to partnership taxation and the legal and tax implications of various incentive programs. Mr. Banghart received his B.A. magna *** laude from The College of Wooster, his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law and his LL.M. from the University of Florida.
Kevin Packman, resident in the firm's Miami office, is a member of Holland & Knight's Private Wealth Services Department where he regularly assists domestic and international clients with estate and gift tax planning. His practice also includes a concentration in the areas of tax controversies, probate administration, and creditor protection planning. He has been recognized repeatedly by Florida Trend as an Up & Comer in the Florida Legal Elite. He received his B.S. from The University of Texas, his J.D. from the Washington University School of Law and his LL.M. from the University of Miami.
Victor Perez is a member of the firm's International Department, practicing out of the Holland & Knight office in Miami. Mr. Perez focuses on international tax planning for non-U.S. clients investing or conducting business operations in the U.S. and for U.S. clients investing or conducting business operations overseas as well as on international estate and pre-immigration tax planning. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Perez was a Senior Associate with the International Tax Services and Latin American Tax practice in the office of a major public accounting firm. He received his B.A. from Michigan State University, his J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law and his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law.
