CHICAGO (December 21, 2009) — McDermott Will & Emery LLP today announced that, effective January 1, 2010, Nancy S. Gerrie has been named partner-in-charge of the Firm’s Chicago office where she will oversee operations. Ms. Gerrie succeeds Quentin “George” Heisler who has served as partner-in-charge of the Chicago office since 2006 and also previously served as head of the Firm’s international Private Client Department.
Commenting on today’s announcement Mr. Heisler said, “You will be pleased, as I am, with Nancy's selection. She is an excellent choice to lead this office and will bring the right skills and values to its management.”
Ms. Gerrie said, “It is an honor to be succeeding George, who not only is a world-renowned lawyer but also has been a principled, caring, energetic and savvy leader of the Chicago office for the past four years. He has made significant contributions to the success not only of the Chicago office, but also the Private Client Department and our Firm. I look forward to working with the excellent lawyers and staff in the Chicago office and I will certainly call upon George as I transition into this new role.”
Ms. Gerrie has been a member of McDermott’s Employee Benefits Department since she started with McDermott as a first-year associate in 1990. In addition to developing a robust practice in the benefits area, Ms. Gerrie has served the Firm in a variety of leadership positions, including chair of the Associate Development Committee, head of the Chicago office Employee Benefits Department, and as a long-standing member of the Firm's Recruiting and Gender Diversity Committees. Most recently, she has served on the Firm's Strategic Planning Committee.
