Injury AOE/COE--Suicide--Irresistible Impulse--WCAB, affirming WCJ's finding, held that decedent/general maintenance worker who suffered an admitted industrial injury to his back/hernia on 7/21/2003, died as a result of an irresistible impulse and did not willfully and deliberately cause his own death, thereby entitling his total dependents to an award of death benefits in the amount of $ 145,000.00, based upon opinion of psychologist, which was supported by opinion of defense expert, that decedent's suicide resulted from his deteriorated mental and emotional state stemming from industrial injury and resulting chronic pain, and irresistible impulse was likely hastened and facilitated by pain medications for his injury. © Copyright 2010 LexisNexis.
