Illinois Appeals Panel: City's Road-Paving Project Caused Biker's Accident

CHICAGO - The First District Illinois Appellate Court on Oct. 9 affirmed a $1.9 million personal injury verdict awarded to a man injured while riding his bike on a city street that was under construction, concluding that the evidence showed that a city caused a dangerous condition that caused the plaintiff's injury (Todd Smart v. The City of Chicago, No. 1-12-0901, Ill. App., 1st Dist., 3rd Div.; 2013 Ill. App. LEXIS 712).
