The lieutenant governor of Arkansas, Mark Darr, is resigning following a decision by the state ethics commission to fine him for nearly a dozen ethics violations, including for his personal use of more than $30,000 of campaign funds.
Darr, a Republican who has faced mounting pressure since the ethics commission’s decision, will resign on February 1. In a statement, he said, “Politics can be a toxic business. I will no longer subject my family to its hard lessons."
