Alabama Bill Tries to Put the CLE Hurt on Immigration Lawyers

"This past April, Alabama Senator Holley recently introduced Senate Bill 543 (SB543) that would require attorneys who practice immigration law in the State of Alabama to complete an additional 50 Continuing Legal Education (CLE) hours on top of the requisite 12 CLE hours already mandated by the Alabama Supreme Court each calendar year.   Assuming a law could be passed and was reasonable and enforceable, the text of SB543 struck me as odd for three different reasons." - Ann Cun, May 3, 2012.
