Trial Lawyers Scott Mendeloff, Gabriel Aizenberg Join Greenberg Traurig Chicago Office

CHICAGO - The international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP has announced that Scott Mendeloff and Gabriel Aizenberg have joined its Chicago office as shareholders in the Litigation Practice. Both join the firm from Howrey LLP, where Mendeloff was the managing partner of the Chicago office and Aizenberg was a partner.

Mendeloff is an experienced trial lawyer who focuses his practice on commercial litigation and white collar criminal defense. His international client base extends from publicly traded corporations in the United States and the European Union to individuals. Mendeloff has tried dozens of cases in federal and state courts around the country, including more than 40 trials before federal juries. He has also represented individuals and businesses in numerous federal grand jury investigations. From 1986 to 1997, Mendeloff was a federal prosecutor, during which time he was one of the primary trial lawyers in the prosecution of Timothy McVeigh for the Oklahoma City bombing. Earlier, as an assistant U.S. attorney in Chicago, he tried dozens of cases and supervised the Criminal and Special Prosecutions Divisions of the U.S. Attorney's Office. While there, his trial victories included four different cases against former Cook County Circuit Court judges in Operations Greylord and Gambat, as well as many high-profile financial crime cases. The Justice Department awarded Mendeloff the Attorney General's Award, the Director's Award and other commendations.

Aizenberg focuses his practice on commercial litigation and represents corporate and individual plaintiffs and defendants in complex proceedings in federal, bankruptcy and state courts and arbitration forums. His practice encompasses a variety of litigation areas, including fraud, contractual disputes, business torts, breach of fiduciary duty, claims of trade secret misappropriation and government contracts. Aizenberg also has significant experience in asset-recovery litigation and advises clients on issues relating to the award or performance of local government contracts.

Mendeloff earned his M.S. and J.D. from Georgetown University and his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Aizenberg earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, his M.A., cum laude, from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and his B.A. from Brandeis University.
