CRIV/LexisNexis® Semiannual Update - December 2024
The CRIV Semiannual Call with LexisNexis® took place December 4, 2024.

This update includes news and product enhancements released between July and December 2024.
COMPANY UPDATES
LexisNexis® Legal & Professional:
- LexisNexis Launches Lexis+ AI to the Canadian Legal Market July commercial rollout of Lexis+ AI in Canada, following a successful commercial preview. Lexis+ AI for Canada is grounded in LexisNexis’ vast legal research and practical guidance content, and delivers fully encrypted, secure interactions with authoritative responses.
NEW PRODUCTS & SERVICES
Lexis+ AI Mobile App
- An Industry-First Generative AI App for Legal Professionals launched in November
- The Lexis+ AI Mobile App enables transformative legal work on the go and is now available for download in both the Apple App Store and Google Play for Lexis+ AI subscribers
- Capabilities include Ask a Legal Question, Summarize a Case, Generate a Draft, Recent Conversations & Drafts, and offers Mobile-to-Desktop Sync
UPDATED PRODUCTS & SERVICES
Lexis+ AI™ - US
- Kicked off the Protégé Commercial Preview test period with participation from Large Law firms, Small Law, State & Local Government, Law Schools, and more. Feedback from user participation with shape the future product rollout targeted for Q1 2025.
- Rolled out multiple enhancements to Lexis+ AI subscribers, including:
- Improved Ask via Multi-Jurisdiction Support - when asking questions, users may prompt with up to 5 Jurisdictions or Courts to inform the response.
- Inline Contextual Passages in the Response - users will have inline access next to each citation in the AI response to view the passage from the underlying source to quickly understand why a document is referenced and relevant to their prompt.
- Lexis+ AI Summaries for Federal & State Administrative Codes – saving researchers time by distilling the essence of administrative codes and providing increased efficiency by quickly surfacing the most relevant information for review.
- Enabled a new feature allowing users to rename their past Conversations for easy recall.
- Added enriched text markup in the AI response which renders text in bold, italics, headings, ordered lists and tables where appropriate.
- Released Shepardize your Cites suggested action button as part of Lexis+ AI Assistant upload and summarize experience. The button appears following the "summarize your uploads" action, allowing the user to continue their research by suggesting a common follow-up task. The feature provides a graphical summary of the Shepard's treatment for all citations within the chat experience and a link to the full report in Brief Analysis
- Enhanced Code Compare (targeting December rollout) – Quickly identify critical differences between compared legal documents, such as statutes, codes, and legislation through a GenAI powered summary of changes. Pinpoint key differences, saving valuable time and effort in understanding complex updates.
Online Research Resources - Lexis+ AI & Lexis+ Updates
- Streamlined the user experience for engaging with Footnotes, which now open inline as the user reads.
- Expanded the breadth of Lexis Answers with new coverage from Matthew Bender treatises & secondary sources
- Enriched top Administrative Materials with contextual metadata additions (source, citation, date, etc.)
- Released Statutes enhancements, including Cited Law Preview, Shepard’s Regulations Alerts and Codes Real Time Archives
- Brief Analysis added the “Winning Briefs” tags Similar Briefs results, Favorable and Unfavorable authority recommendations, and rolled out a streamlined home page
- Updated More Like this Headnote to offer recommendations of secondary resources from over 1K Matthew Bender sources
- Released full Light/Dark Toggle presentation setting to Law Schools, allowing users to view all pages within in light or dark mode.
Lexis® Create
- Updated key drafting functions, including improvements to Redaction, Scan, and Proofreading tools to improve overall accuracy and efficiency
Practical Guidance
- Automated Templates multi-document assembly feature released
CourtLink® & Lexis® Snapshot
- Lexis Snapshot complaint summaries were made available to additional California and Delaware state courts. Snapshot summaries for these court issued complaints will appear in alert emails and docket views, providing insight into cases of interest. Coverage now includes:
- US Federal District Courts
- Delaware Chancery
- Delaware Superior
- Alameda Superior
- Butte Superior
- Imperial Superior
- Los Angeles Superior
- Merced Superior
- Placer Superior

- The Snapshot Complaint summaries were also added to the alert results available within the CourtLink web application, providing users with quick insight into each case in their alert results list when reviewing online. Users may scroll through their new case list and gain a faster understanding of each without having to open the complaints.
Lex Machina®
- Lex Machina announced Full Federal – Outcome Analytics for its Complete Civil Federal District Court Dataset. Lex Machina has released any applicable findings, remedies, and damages for approximately 500,000 federal district court cases comprising the final 15% of the civil federal dataset, thereby achieving its full federal district court coverage
- Legal Analytics are only as powerful as their level of accuracy and comprehensiveness. When attorneys use legal analytics to advise their clients, craft litigation strategy, or compete for business, they need to know the analytics and the underlying dataset is complete.
- With the Full Federal update, Lex Machina is delivering superior analytics with a now complete underlying dataset that enables legal professionals to leverage powerful and reliable data-driven insights on the litigation histories and track records that matter most to them.
- 2024 Litigation Trend Reports– released multiple trend reports on Litigation activity (also available to non-subscribers):
CaseMap® Cloud
- CaseMap Cloud product brand updated to CaseMap+ with the following features:
- Document Summarization – summarize up to 500 documents at a time

- Launch of Law360 Pulse Leaderboard Analytics, providing a powerful data analysis tool that leverages the data from the annual Law360 Leaderboard data & reports, offering customizable firm comparisons across key metrics, and can be used to benchmark firm performance across key indicators to validate strengths, identify opportunities, and drive strategic decisions.
Nexis Newsdesk™
- Rolled out updates to ease the management of newsletters and information feeds for recipients including feed disruption alerts.
