Knowledge & Research Consultant Research Tip: Accessing Archived Versions of Federal and State Codes on Lexis® & Lexis+™
While Code Compare is available on the Lexis+ service to compare versions of codes over time, users can also access archived versions of federal, state and municipal codes quickly from Explore Content on the Lexis and Lexis+ home pages. Below are easy steps to follow.
- Go to Explore Content > Statutes & Legislation > Archived Codes

- From here users will land on a form where they can select category, search terms, date range and jurisdiction.

- Once in the relevant code, access archived versions through About This Document > Other archived code versions, which will be hyperlinked.

Past versions of federal, state and municipal codes are easily accessible from either Lexis or Lexis+. Coverage varies by jurisdiction, but federal codes and most state codes go back to the early 1990s. For detailed coverage information, click here: Archived Dates for Statutes, Regulations, Constitutions, Court Rules and Municipal Codes.
