Knowledge & Research Consultant Research Tip: Refine Your Shepard’s® Report by Headnote

Lexis® and Lexis+™ offer a helpful way to focus Shepard’s reports to specific headnotes. When you are viewing a report, use the Headnotes filter on the left-hand side of the page if you know the relevant headnote number.

Or, while viewing the headnotes from within a case, you can opt to Shepardize® – Narrow by this Headnote. This feature is beneath the headnote language. From this vantage point you will also be able to see how many citing references there are for that headnote. Click the link to view the Shepard’s report citing cases that cite your case in relation to the issue in the applicable headnote.
