Knowledge & Research Consultant Tip: Sorting Options When Reviewing a Shepard’s® Report

Shepard’s reports on the Lexis® and Lexis+ services offer an amazing array of features and functions. One navigation tip you’ll want to take advantage of is the Sort by option. When you are in the Citing Decisions tab of a Shepard’s report, the default sort is by court. You can also sort the citing decisions by Analysis, Discussion or Date.

Use the Sort by drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner of the report to select the sort order you need. For example, if you want to sort by Analysis, the citing decisions with red phrases will now be at the top of the report, followed by the rest of the Shepard’s Signal™ Indicators, in order of severity. Working with a Shepard’s report to help you determine the next research step you need to take is made even easier with this sorting option.
