Wildcards Used Within Quotations Are Available on the Lexis® and Lexis+® Platforms

When crafting a search, wildcard operators (e.g., ?, a single character wildcard, or * or ! root expanders) that are within quotation marks will now be recognized, providing greater search flexibility, precision and control for researchers. Remember that any wildcard must still be preceded by three characters.

Examples:

  • "probation revo!" /10 "new charges"will retrieve results that include “probation revoked” or “probation revocation,” etc.

  • “autonomous! driv!” /s crash! or accident! will return documents that include “autonomous driver” or “autonomously driven”
