After a historic 2020, I thought 2021 would be a much more uneventful year. Well, that was a flawed assumption! As I reflect on our I&D journey this year, I realize there is much to be thankful for, much to be proud of and much more to do.
Much to be thankful for…
We often say that “our people are our strength.” This couldn’t be more true than in the work we do to advance our culture of inclusion and diversity. In 2021, we had over 2000 employees participate in Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), 478 LNLP employees participated in RISE, our global I&D conference, approximately 200 employees participated in our I&D volunteer groups, 122 colleagues joined our Allyship Circles and 95 employees participated in our AAN/LexisNexis Rule of Law Foundation Fellowship program. To all of you at LexisNexis who have engaged in enhancing our culture of inclusion and diversity -- THANK YOU!
Our People, Our Strength
We recently launched a video series called “Our People, Our Strength” which highlights people in our organization doing exemplary work to enhance our culture of I&D. We would love to hear from employees about exceptional colleagues who should be celebrated in “Our People, Our Strength.”
Much to be proud of…
Our latest survey results indicate that 90% of our employees believe our organization is committed to inclusion and diversity and our Psychological Safety index score is 79%, which is a 5-point increase since last year. That means more of us are experiencing high performing teams where we feel more included and have more courage to experiment, take risks and innovate. We were recognized with several awards this year, including receiving a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index annual scorecard assessing LGBTQ+ workplace equality, receiving the prestigious Brandon Hall Gold award for Excellence in Talent Management for Best Advance in Employee Engagement and being recognized for best Global Culture and Best CEO for Diversity by Comparably.
We have also seen incremental progress in increasing the gender and race and ethnicity representation in our organization through more inclusive leadership, advancement, recruiting and retention practices.
Much more to do…
As we continue our journey of enhancing our culture of inclusion and diversity there is much more work to do. Over the past few months, we have held listening sessions and conducted surveys with employees, ERG leaders and our I&D Council to evolve our I&D strategy and roadmap. Our goal is to see our culture of I&D become a competitive advantage for LexisNexis and we believe we can do it together. In 2022, some of the initiatives we will focus on include:
This holiday season, I look forward to unplugging and spending time with my family. I hope you will also be spending time with the people you hold dear and enhancing your well-being as the year comes to a close. Thank you again for a great 2021 and here is to the great work we’ll do together in 2022!
Happy Holidays and Warmest Wishes!
