Most litigation teams have come to appreciate the value of cloud-based solutions to help manage their cases; and now a growing number of litigators are opening up to the potential of incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities into these tech platforms.
A recent survey by Ari Kaplan Advisors found that 70% of litigation support teams use case management systems for litigation and that two-thirds of those respondents said they want to upgrade them.
“To gain a competitive edge, litigation support teams are exploring generative AI tools based on large language models,” reported Law360. “Half of the participants said they already use generative tech for litigation processes through case management platforms or other tools.”
AI is already making a significant impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of the way that law firms practice and is destined to reshape traditional approaches to litigation management in particular.
In these early days of the integration of AI into legal tech applications, the use cases that attracted the most attention were legal research, document creation and electronic discovery — but nearly four in 10 (38%) legal professionals told Law360 Pulse that they are either currently using or have plans to use AI tools in their trial preparation work as well.
This is good news for litigation teams, law firms and their clients alike. It is important to emphasize that this technological evolution in the legal space isn’t just about improved efficiency — it’s about achieving materially better outcomes for clients through enhanced decision-making and deeper analytical capabilities. An excellent example of this is with fact management and case analysis software.
By integrating AI capabilities with fact management and case analysis software tools, litigation teams will be able to unlock unprecedented abilities to distill insights from vast document collections, identify subtle patterns in case law and develop more compelling legal strategies.
We recently rolled out CaseMap+ AI, an AI-infused collaborative fact management and case analysis solution that helps law firms organize case documents and craft case strategy to present a compelling case story.
CaseMap was the software product that pioneered the category of case analysis software more than 25 years ago. The concept was simple: How can litigators use technology to help organize the countless notes on legal pads, copies of deposition transcripts, pictures of physical evidence, and all of the other facts, issues and characters involved in a case? LexisNexis acquired CaseMap in 2006 and has invested in its development over the years to make it the industry’s leading software tool for managing litigation matters and evidence.
With the launch of CaseMap+ AI, litigation teams will experience the first wave of AI features — headlined by extraordinary transcript summarization and document summarization, delivering brief synopses to significantly streamline document and transcript review.
Specific featured capabilities in CaseMap+ AI include:
Fact management and case analysis is a very time-consuming process that can be significantly improved by using AI technology. CaseMap+ AI delivers new AI-powered features that drive meaningful time savings in the initial processing of a new case by speeding up the process of organizing case documents, mapping facts, issues, people and organizations, and facilitating case analysis.
CaseMap+ AI is the premier fact management and case analysis solution that helps law firms organize case documents and craft case strategy, enabling litigators to present a compelling case story. The software enables seamless integration of case-related materials, discussions and insights in a centralized platform for efficient collaboration and organization.
