The CLOC Global Institute is the annual meeting where corporate legal operations professionals from around the world gather to “Open New Doors” each year, so we thought it was only fitting that we chose this year’s event as the venue for previewing the innovative enhancements to our award-winning CounselLink enterprise legal management solution for in-house legal departments.
The 2025 CLOC Global Institute, which took place May 5-8, 2025 in Las Vegas, was attended by more than legal ops professionals at every career level to connect and learn more about how they can transform the business and practice of law. At this year’s conference, they received updates on a number of product development breakthroughs in the legal industry, including some upcoming AI-powered rollouts for CounselLink+.
LexisNexis Protégé, the next chapter in legal technology innovation, is our new AI assistant that leverages the power of agentic and generative AI to transform legal work. Protégé understands individual preferences and then draws upon our comprehensive repository of authoritative legal content — as well as the user’s own proprietary work product — to serve as grounding data for providing deeply personalized answers, drafts, summaries and more.
This year, we will be rolling out Protégé in CounselLink+. This integration will revolutionize productivity in in-house legal departments by providing actionable insights and summarizations, reducing manual review time and seamlessly integrating into existing workflows.
CLOC attendees were given a preview of why this integration will be a game-changer for legal ops professionals, starting with the “Phase 1” use case that is in testing now: AI-generated summaries for matter and financial management. On the “Matter Overview” page, users will be able to leverage Protégé to create an executive summary that surfaces contextual insights for team members to quickly review. These summaries will include: an overview of the matter/invoice; financial snapshot of the work; key takeaways; and suggested action items the user may want to consider.
These AI-powered summarizations are securely generated from the information available to the currently logged-in user only; all data remains entirely private and protected. No unauthorized data is included in the summaries that are produced and no prompts or responses are stored or used to train the model.
CounselLink will soon offer a robust new reporting tool on the SaaS-based platform. Key capabilities include the ability to create multiple visuals in a single dashboard view, to customize visuals, to save or bookmark visual settings, and to use AI technology to build data stories and create reports.
The CounselLink team has more than 30 years of experience developing innovative solutions designed to help legal departments organize their work and make better decisions. On average, CounselLink customers achieve and ROI of 13x their CounselLink spend and 100% of surveyed organizations experienced an increase in productivity compared to before they implemented CounselLink.
