Assist nonprofit hospitals and health systems conduct a community health needs assessment (CHNA), a systematic process used by nonprofit hospitals and other health organizations to identify and analyze the health needs of a specific population within a defined community. Comply with provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), Pub. L. No. 111-148, and the Internal Revenue Code, e.g., I.R.C. § 501(r)(3), which require that nonprofit hospitals and health systems conduct a CHNA every three years and adopt an implementation strategy to meet the identified needs.
