The age of video has revolutionized the way that we watch television and movies, experience music, and even connect with friends and family members. It has also transformed the workplace, particularly when it comes to the delivery of information and instructional content.
A 2021 study by TechSmith found that a whopping 83% of Americans prefer watching videos to accessing instructional or informational content via text or audio.
“Whether you are teaching people through online content or training co-workers, using video to share knowledge is becoming an expectation,” the TechSmith report says. “The type of content you create matters just as much as the information you are trying to share, this includes video.”
This preference for instructional video content is borne out by the volume of video viewing activity on the internet. The Cisco Video Networking Index forecasts that video viewing will make up 82% of internet traffic by the end of 2022, fueled by the fact that 52% of people reported watching more than two instructional or informational videos each week last year.
The surge in the use of instructional video content is especially notable among young professionals who tend to be more digitally native and comfortable with video content. Indeed, a 2022 study published by the University of Pittsburgh School of Law found that law students — tomorrow’s new lawyers — were generally very receptive to learning legal concepts by watching educational videos, provided they are engaging and less than seven minutes in length.
LexisNexis has made a significant investment to provide hundreds of practice videos designed to provide legal professionals with practical insights and tips for managing various client needs. Now we have taken that investment to the next level.
