Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) signs SB 817, a bill that bans discrimination in schools based on hairstyles historically associated with race, ethnicity, or hair texture braids, locks and twists.
Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee (D) signs HB 5105b, which extends the pandemic-induced law that allows restaurants to sell limited amounts of liquor with take-out food orders through March 1, 2022.
Rhode Island Gov. McKee also signs HB 5346, which bars third-party food delivery services from listing a restaurant without the business’ consent.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) signs SB 1465, which requires banking institutions that maintain checking accounts to paychecks in the order they are received. The law will allow a bank to decline paying a check for a greater amount than the balance in the account, but require it to honor any smaller checks that can be paid with the existing account balance.
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) signs HB 709, which requires the state to conduct public information campaigns to help educate immigrants of their rights under the U.S. Constitution and Prairie State laws.
