Insurer Unreasonably Delayed Death Benefit Payment In Bad Faith, Judge Concludes

GULFPORT, Miss. - A life insurer had no reasonable basis for its one-year delay in paying death benefits to a policy beneficiary, a Mississippi federal judge ruled Nov. 13, granting in part the beneficiary's motion for summary judgment (Patricia K. Landrum v. Conseco Life Insurance Co., No. 1:12-cv-00005, S.D. Miss.; 2013 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 161677).
