Michigan Governor, Treasurer: Bankruptcy Court Should Deny Stay Motion

DETROIT - The governor of Michigan and the state treasurer filed a joint brief in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan on Jan. 10 arguing that the Bankruptcy Court should deny relief from the automatic stay in the Chapter 9 bankruptcy of the City of Detroit to a group of plaintiffs who want to pursue a lawsuit against the governor and the treasurer in district court (In Re: City of Detroit, No. 13-53846, Chapter 9, E.D. Mich. Bkcy.).
