Mealey's IP/Tech - D.C. Circuit Court: Copyright Plaintiff Abused Discovery Process

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In a strongly worded ruling on May 27, the District of Columbia Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals found that a copyright plaintiff sought to "manipulate judicial procedures" to serve its own "improper ends" when it attempted to join 1,058 John Doe defendants to an infringement action in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia (AF Holdings LLC v. John Does 1-1,058, No. 12-7135, D.C. Cir.).
