Litigator Michael H. King Joins Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg As Partner

CHICAGO - Michael H. King has joined Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP as a partner in its Litigation Practice Group, bringing with him more than 30 years of extensive litigation experience.

King, previously a partner at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, manages a variety of litigation, including environmental claims, FCPA, civil and criminal antitrust cases, patent infringement, white-collar criminal, intellectual property, trust interpretation, government contract issues and complex commercial litigation.

A former federal prosecutor, King also represents corporations and individuals facing government-related investigations involving antitrust and major toxic episodes, including environmental and antitrust grand jury proceedings, criminal investigations and companion civil litigation. He has represented Fortune 100 companies faced with raids, seizures and investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Defense, State Department and Environmental Protection Agency.

Some of his most recent representations include a major international FCPA investigation and the settlement of two large cases for a major petroleum company against another involving indemnification of environmental claims and a trading dispute over interrupted oil shipments.

King said he chose to come to Neal Gerber Eisenberg because of its strong litigation practice, which received 2010 rankings in Chambers USA and U.S. News & World Report-Best Lawyers.

The firm's Litigation Practice Group advocates for individuals and businesses in trial and appellate courts nationwide and recently defeated a major antitrust lawsuit against client TransUnion LLC and two other credit reporting agencies leveled by Fair Isaac Corp. over a joint venture the agencies formed to compete with Fair Isaac's FICO credit score. Neal Gerber Eisenberg also represents clients such as Citigroup Global Markets, UBS, Boeing Company, UPS, JPMorgan Chase, Hyatt, United Healthcare, Tyson Foods and Goldcorp.

King began his career as a special attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice's organized crime and racketeering section (Chicago Strike Force) and later served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois. He received a J.D. in 1970 from Washington University School of Law and a B.S. in 1967 from Washington University in St. Louis.

King has served as chairman of the Executive Committee at Ross & Hardies and as managing partner of the Chicago office of Dewey & LeBoeuf. He is ranked as a Leading Lawyer and as an Illinois Super Lawyer in commercial and white-collar criminal litigation.

Earlier this month, Jill B. Berkeley and Seth D. Lamden, a pair of high-profile insurance litigators, joined the firm as partners in its Insurance Policyholder Practice Group from Howrey LLP. Also, earlier this year, intellectual property litigator Kevin C. May joined Neal Gerber Eisenberg from Latham & Watkins LLP.

Neal Gerber Eisenberg is a Chicago-based law firm of nearly 175 attorneys spanning 23 practice groups. For more information, visit
