PHILADELPHIA - Thorp Reed & Armstrong LLP continues to expand the firm's presence in the Philadelphia region with the addition of two new associates, Karen M. Sanchez and Nolan G. Shenai.
Sanchez, who concentrates her practice in the areas of financing, creditors' rights, lender liability, general corporate law and real estate development, joins the firm's Commercial, Real Estate and Public Finance practice group.
Shenai, who concentrates his practice in the areas of banking and finance litigation and sports and entertainment law, joins the firm's Commercial & Corporate Litigation practice group.
Since its establishment in 1998, Thorp Reed's Philadelphia office has grown to include attorneys practicing in diverse areas of law, including; litigation, finance, insurance and reinsurance, real estate, intellectual property, transportation, labor and employment and international law. Thorp Reed recently extended its regional presence with the opening of a new office in Wilmington, Del.
Sanchez has extensive experience representing financial institutions, as well as developers and corporate clients. In 2007, she was selected as a "Pennsylvania Rising Star" in Philadelphia Magazine. In addition, she has been recognized for her work representing children with the Support Center for Child Advocates and has been awarded enrollment in the Pro Bono Roll of Honor by the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania.
Sanchez earned her J.D. from Temple University's Beasley School of Law, her M.B.A. from Temple University's Fox School of Business, and her B.S. from the Pennsylvania State University.
Shenai brings complex commercial and general litigation experience in federal, state and appellate courts, along with extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Before joining Thorp Reed, he represented regional and national lending and financial institutions in commercial and real estate related litigation, and served as counsel to professional sports teams and entertainment clients in litigation and arbitration matters. Shenai is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Shenai earned his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, his Masters of Letters in Philosophy from the University of St. Andrews, and his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, during which he served as a summer clerk to the Honorable Peter W. Hall in the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and American Bar Associations, as well as the South of South Neighborhood Association. He is a member of the University of St. Andrews, St. Leonard's College Alumni Association, as well as the University of Pennsylvania Alumni Association.
