Tax Law

It's Time to Lose Grover

Why does Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, get to direct tax policy in this country?

Norquist has convinced
41 of 47 sitting Republican U.S. Senators to sign a no-tax-increase-pledge. That's a pledge to never increase taxes. Ever. And that's just plain crazy.

More than that, Grover considers the elimination of a tax expenditure - which is a tax break given to a group that lawmakers feel is special - a tax increase. Even the stupid ones. Or the unnecessary ones like the credit for ethanol that doesn't do much to promote biofuels, but is a boon to corn growers.
