Workers' Compensation

Are You Odd Enough for Me?

This song brings into play the “Odd Lot Doctrine,” which, as many of you already know, is a widely accepted principle of workers’  compensation law. According to this doctrine, if you are so odd that no one will give you a job, then you are considered totally disabled and therefore entitled to full benefits.* In this tender and touching love ballad, the young man is attempting to prove to his sweetheart that he is worthy of her love in this regard.

* For a slightly more accurate definition of this doctrine, see Chapter 83 of Larson’s Workers’ Compensation Law.
