Allan E. Kaye: In Memoriam

From the NY AILA Chapter: "With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Allen E. Kaye, a distinguished figure in the field of immigration law. Allen was a nationally recognized immigration lawyer who dedicated over five decades to the practice of law. Mr. Kaye passed away on May 1st, 2024, in Brooklyn, NY, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and advocacy. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Flushing, NY, he pursued his passion for law, graduating with honors from Queens College of the City University of New York (B.A.), Columbia University Law School (J.D.), and New York University Law School (LL.M.). He embarked on his legal career with a fervent commitment to serving others, particularly those with challenging cases or who had been failed by other immigration lawyers. Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Kaye distinguished himself through his unwavering dedication to his clients. His profound understanding of immigration law and out-of-the-box thinking earned him widespread admiration and respect within the legal community. He was the founder of The Law Offices of Allen E. Kaye and then later joined the Pollack, Pollack, Isaac & DeCicco family as of counsel. Allen tirelessly championed the rights of immigrants, providing expert guidance and representation to countless individuals and families seeking to navigate the complexities of the immigration process. His impact extended far beyond the walls of this office, as he actively engaged in advocacy efforts and policy initiatives aimed at promoting fair and just immigration policies. Allen was a past National President of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and a Member of the Board of Governors, as well as a Member of the Executive Committee of the International Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, representing many large and small employers and individuals. He was a regular columnist on U.S. immigration and naturalization law for Queens Bar Bulletin and other prominent newspapers across America. He was also a frequent lecturer on U.S. immigration, naturalization, visa, and consular law for various organizations, associations, and foreign consulates. Mr. Kaye's contributions to the legal profession were not only measured by his professional accomplishments but also by the profound influence he had on those around him. A mentor and friend to many, he generously shared his knowledge and expertise, inspiring the next generation of legal professionals to uphold the highest standards of integrity and compassion. He made a practice of mentoring and shepherding some of the best immigration lawyers in our area and loved helping other dedicated immigration lawyers run for office in AILA. He was the co-founder of IMMLAW–The National Consortium of Law Firms. He was a regular contributor to India Today. In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. Kaye was a beloved member of the community, known for his tenacity and thoroughness. He touched the lives of countless individuals through his philanthropic endeavors and commitment to social justice causes. Mr. Kaye’s passing leaves a void in the legal community and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched and the indelible mark he left on the field of immigration law. He is survived by his domestic partner, three children and four grandchildren.
