LexTalk® Community Guidelines 


 YOUR USE OF THIS SITE CONSTITUTES YOUR AGREEMENT TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE.

The LexTalk® Community Guidelines constitute a legal agreement between you and LexisNexis® and govern all use of the LexTalk® forum, including all content (including content posted by users), information, and services provided on or through LexTalk®.

LexisNexis® may update these Community Guidelines at any time, with or without giving prior notice to LexTalk® users. You can find the most recent version of the Community Guidelines on this website.

Each time you access LexTalk®, you agree to be bound by the Community Guidelines then in effect. If you do not agree to these Community Guidelines, please do not use LexTalk®.

 

1. Purpose of LexTalk®

1.1. LexTalk® is an online community which gives users the opportunity to post questions, hold conversations, participate in discussions and share best practice.

1.2. LexTalk® provides a secure place for legal professionals to discuss legal developments, offer and receive peer support, and gain a sense of up to date market practice and advances.

1.3. Any Postings on the LexTalk® forum may be visible to all users in order to promote an experienced legal community.

 

2. Right to use LexTalk®

2.1. The LexTalk® forum is accessible to all Lexis®PSL users and affiliates. All LexTalk® Practice Areas are available to users, regardless of their subscription coverage.

2.2. Users are able to contribute to all LexTalk® Practice Areas regardless of their subscription coverage.

2.3. Each user must create a LexTalk® profile in order to be able to contribute to the LexTalk® forum. If a user does not create a profile, they will be able to view the LexTalk® website and Postings but will not be able to access any Responses or contribute to the discussions.

 

3. Acceptable usage policy

3.1. You may not post, publish, upload or distribute any Postings or Responses which are unlawful or abusive in any way, including, but not limited to, any Postings or Responses that are defamatory, obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory or likely to harass, embarrass, alarm or annoy, promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age. Any such Postings or Responses will be removed immediately by LexTalk® without prior warning and the user will be contacted.

3.2. Your Postings shall not be posted anonymously. You may use your real name, or you may wish to create a screen name, provided that you use your real name when registering for participation in the LexTalk® forum. LexTalk® participants shall not misrepresent their identity or their affiliation with any person or entity. If a pseudonym is used, it will appear as the display name to other LexTalk® users, however, LexisNexis® will have access to the users correct name, organisation, and contact details.

3.3. LexisNexis® does not monitor or screen Postings or Responses and is not responsible for the content in such Postings or Responses or any content linked to or from such Postings or Responses. LexisNexis® reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to monitor the LexTalk® forum, screen Postings or Responses, edit Postings or Responses, cause Postings or Responses not to be posted, published, uploaded or distributed, and remove Postings or Responses, at any time.

 

4. No legal advice

4.1. LexisNexis® is not responsible for any Postings or Responses published on the LexTalk® forum being legally correct. Any Postings or Responses on the LexTalk® forum are not intended to and do not constitute legal advice and no solicitor-client relationship is formed through the use of LexTalk®.

4.2. LexisNexis® does not warrant or guarantee the accuracy, completeness or adequacy of any Postings or Responses. The use of content published on LexTalk® or materials linked in Postings or Responses is at the user’s own risk.

 

5. Right to repurpose content

5.1. LexisNexis® reserves the right to repurpose any Postings and Responses on the LexTalk® forum.

5.2. Any Postings and Responses can be used to:

5.2.3. Generate new content based on popular topics

 

6. Warranties

6.1. LexisNexis® do not represent or warrant that LexTalk®, Content or Postings will be error-free, accurate, up to date, reliable, free of viruses or other harmful components, or that defects will be corrected or that it will always be accessible. LexisNexis® may make improvements and/or changes to the Site or the Content at any time.

 

 7. Links to third-party content

7.1 Third-party content (including, without limitation, Postings and Responses) may appear on the LexTalk® forum or may be accessible via links from any Postings or Responses. LexisNexis® is not responsible and has no liability for any third-party content on published on LexTalk®.

 

8. Non-compliance with the LexTalk® Community Guidelines

8.1. LexisNexis® reserve the right to investigate complaints or reported violations of these Community Guidelines and to take any action we deem appropriate including but not limited to reporting any suspected unlawful activity to law enforcement officials, regulators, or other third parties and disclosing any information necessary or appropriate to such persons or entities relating to user profiles, e-mail addresses, usage history, posted materials, IP addresses and traffic information.

8.2. LexisNexis® reserve the right to seek all remedies available at law and in equity for violations of these Community Guidelines, including but not limited to the right to block access from a particular internet address to LexTalk® and any other sites operated by LexisNexis® or our affiliates and their features.

 

9. Privacy

9.1. Your use of LexTalk® is subject to the LexisNexis® Privacy Policy.

9.2. Your use of the LexisNexis® Online Services, case law, legal forms and other related legal materials is also governed by the General Terms and Conditions for Use of the LexisNexis Services, and if applicable the LexisNexis Services Supplemental Terms for Specific Materials, (collectively the LN Services Terms) which are provided during the registration process for these LexisNexis® Online Services, all of which are incorporated by reference herein. Your completion of the LexisNexis® Services registration process constitutes your acceptance of the LN Services Terms. If you do not agree with any LN Services Terms, you are not permitted to access the LexisNexis® Services.

 

10. Community guideline versions

10.1 LexisNexis® reserve the right to change these Community Guidelines at any time. Updated versions of the Community Guidelines will appear on this site and are effective immediately. You are responsible for regularly reviewing the Community Guidelines. Continued use of LexTalk® after any such changes constitutes your consent to such changes.
