The SOUTH CAROLINA Supreme Court unanimously abolishes common law marriage, the legal framework that allows longtime couples to be considered married even without a license. CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR SIGNS SB 30

CALIFORNIA Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signs SB 30, which allows opposite-sex couples to register as domestic partners. The law previously applied only to same-sex couples (CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR’S OFFICE).
