Duane Morris Adds Adam J. Taliaferro To Its Employment, Labor, Benefits, Immigration Practice

PHILADELPHIA - Duane Morris LLP has announced that Adam J. Taliaferro has joined the firm's Employment, Labor, Benefits and Immigration Practice as an associate in its Cherry Hill, N.J., office.

The addition to the firm of the well-known motivational speaker, former Penn State University football player and prominent fundraiser for spinal-injury charities strengthens Duane Morris' national employment practice as well as its gaming law capabilities.

Taliaferro focuses his practice on employment law litigation, representing clients in a variety of employment law matters, as well as representing clients in the gaming industry in a wide range of legal matters. He has helped clients with regard to the evaluation of National Football League contracts and helped created NFL contract proposals for clients. He has planned and formed limited liability companies on behalf of professional athletes in the NFL and the National Basketball Association. Before starting his legal career, Taliaferro interned with the National Football League Players Association, where he assisted NFL players with their retirement benefits.

Taliaferro was the subject of the 2001 book, Miracle in the Making: The Adam Taliaferro Story (Triumph Books). Taliaferro was a Penn State football player who suffered a spinal-cord injury on Sept. 23, 2000, after tackling an Ohio State University opponent headfirst during his freshman year. He was told that he had only a small chance of ever walking again due to the injury, but was able to overcome his paralysis and walked out of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in just four months. He then led his team onto the field to start the next season. Taliaferro is the founding board member of the Adam Taliaferro Foundation, which provides emotional, financial and educational support to student-athletes who suffer catastrophic head or spinal injuries on the field. Taliaferro was also the honorary chairman for the 2002 Special Olympics Summer Games.

Taliaferro has received many awards, including the 2009 Philadelphia Sports Writers Humanitarian Award and Bank of America's Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Award.

Taliaferro earned his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law-Camden in 2008. He earned a B.S. in Labor and Industrial Relations with a minor in Dispute Management and Resolution from Pennsylvania State University in 2005.
