2011 LexisNexis Tax Law Blog Nominees

Each year, LexisNexis honors a select group of blogs that set the online standard for a given industry. This year, we would like to seek your input in choosing the Top Tax Law Blogs  and Alerts on our Tax Law Community. We've been fortunate to host the content of a number of distinguished legal professionals who have shared their insights and expertise with our community, and through the process of seeking what we consider to be "top blogs," we have discovered many more.

The Top Tax Law Blogs and Alerts campaign on the LexisNexis  Tax Law Community  will move ahead in several phases. We'll start by taking nominations during a comment period that starts today and ends on November 18, 2011.  We've gathered a group of initial nominees which are listed below, and we welcome our community members to make additional nominations and support their favorite blogs. We'll select the top 20 based on our review of the sites and comments from our community members. After we announce the Top 20 Tax Law Blog honorees, we'll ask our community to vote for the Top Tax Law Blog of the Year.

To "talk up" or nominate your favorite Tax Law blog, you'll need to be a registered community member and be logged in. If you haven't  registered previously,  follow this link  to create a new registration or use your sign in credentials from your favorite social media site. Registration is free! Once you are logged in, scroll all the way to the very bottom of this page. You should see a comment box similar to this one:

Add a comment in the box at the bottom of the page to vote or nominate your favorite blog, and that's it! If you are having problems registering, click here, or please contact us here.  We'd also appreciate your help with spreading the news about our top blogs campaign. Please tell your colleagues and your online groups and networks that our Tax Law Community is seeking nominations and comments for the Top 20 Tax Law Blogs and Alerts so they can participate in our recognition event.  After all, it's only through input from others that we can continue to maintain the value and quality that our community relies upon when it searches our Top Blogs and Alerts for insight and information.

I came to "Brager Tax Group" several years ago with what I thought was an impossible problem. Everyone I've dealt with (especially Dennis) has patiently explained the consequences of each decision I must make. His company was recommended by another lawyer who knew the kind of guidance I would need in order to move forward, thoughtfully, and in my own best interests.

Since we began consistently reading Dennis Brager's BLOG, the company tax issues that seemed incomprehensible became easily digestible chunks of information, allowing us a better understanding of the choices available, and the consequences of those choices. We have now been working with Dennis Brager for several years and have come to depend on the BRAGER TAX LAW BLOG as a source of information presented in such a way that we feel confident about asking more in depth questions as our business grows. Thanks Dennis!

Taxdood's blog is great. It is informative and relevant, easy to understand, and often quite witty. This is a great list of tax blogs, and although it is difficult to follow all of them, everyone should follow taxdood.

The Taxdood blog is one of the most well written blogs I've read. Taxdood succeeds in making a dry topic highly entertaining through his analysis of the tax issues in mainstream stories. The author pulls his audience in with compelling anecdotes about celebrities and interesting issues and manages to put an educational twist on them. Love the guy's trademark sense of humor.

Dennis Brager's Tax Problem Attorney Blog is a source of valuable information about current developments in all tax related matters. My wife and I were referred to Brager Tax Law Group a few years ago, and it was the best referral we could have asked for. Dennis and his team know what they're doing and they do it well. I continue to enjoy reading the Tax Problem Attorney Blog, and I think it deserves to win!

Joe Kristan's Tax Update blog is an essential, every day read. Joe has the uncanny (and enviable) ability to make even the driest tax-related story fun and fresh. I also appreciate that he constantly updates the Update, offering fresh, quality material at least 2 or 3 times every day.

Taxpayers have a right to know and plan their tax obligation to their government. Withholding tables were not adjusted to anticipate Congress’s inaction on these promised “extenders” and the AMT patch. Now you see them, now you don’t tax provisions are unsettling and unfair to the American taxpayer. Example: last year the first $2400 of unemployment compensation was exempt from tax
