Did the Anti-Taxers Win on Tuesday?

In Washington they did. Voters overwhelmingly rejected the measure that would have imposed an income tax on the state's wealthiest citizens. They also voted to repeal the sales tax on candy and a special excise tax on soft drinks. . . . But in Colorado, three tax cutting measures, that were so extreme that even the Republican Party opposed them, were defeated by large margins. In California, voters made it easier to pass a budget, but will require the legislature to muster a 2/3 majority to increase fees and charges (in addition to all taxes). Californians also rejected repealing tax breaks for corporations. By a large margin, they also rejected legalizing marijuana. . . .
