The Global Rule of Law Business Principles
By working with, legal professionals, C-level executives of cross-sector businesses, policy makers, academics, NGOs, and other stakeholders, we’ve developed the Global Rule of Law Business Principles to support and align professionals on higher standards regarding the rule of law.
The goals for the Global Rule of Law Business Principles are:
- To provide businesses with a practical and useful guide for actions they can take toward advancing the rule of law
- To raise awareness of the impact that businesses can have in helping to promote the rule of law
We hope to support and encourage governments to prioritize the rule of law for economic growth and social good.
LexisNexis, together with the Atlantic Council, presented the first iteration of the Global Rule of Law Business Principles—a set of principles to guide the observance of the rule of law across business interactions—to the United Nations Secretary-General at an invitation-only event held September 19, 2013 in New York City. The United Nations Global Compact will work to develop a truly global approach for how the business community can support the rule of law, using the work of LexisNexis and the Atlantic Council as an important foundation for this process. LexisNexis and the Atlantic Council will closely collaborate with the United Nations in the ongoing process.
