Mealey's Bankruptcy - Split 5th Circuit: Remand For Recalculation Of Fee Award Needed

NEW ORLEANS - A divided panel of the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on March 24 ruled that a district court order on fees in a bankruptcy case was not final; therefore, it lacked jurisdiction and the case should be remanded to the bankruptcy court to "exercise judicial discretion" on calculating the amount of the fee award (Okin Adams & Kilmer v. Joseph M. Hill [In the Matter of: Yazoo Pipeline Company], No. 13-20035, Chapter 11, 5th Cir.; 2014 U.S. App. LEXIS 5425).
