Setfords Solicitors

Michael represented the UK’s biggest landlord for many years, successfully concluding litigation involving major redevelopments worth hundreds of millions of pounds. Michael is steadfast and fearless in defending his clients’ interest: recently he was called an “aggressive litigator” by representatives of the biggest landlord in the world, in their negotiations with a group of commercial tenants. His clients include breweries, distilleries, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, food producers, motor vehicle firms, and industrial manufacturers. He represents landlords, commercial tenants (and tenants who sub-let), property companies and developers. He has acted for clients in the High Court, Court of Appeal, County Courts, First-tier (Property) Tribunal, and represented clients at dozens of mediations. As an expert in his field and a member of the Property Litigation Association, Michael is a contributor to Lexis Nexis webinars (a leading trainer of law firms). He has lectured for the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) on a number of subjects including commercial rent reviews. Michael was also a member of the Greater London Authority’s Steering Group on London Working Rent.
