Andrew Marks is an associate in Kirkland’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group in London. Andrew has experience with complex IP litigation within the UK and in pan-European matters as well as transactional intellectual property matters. Andrew has advised on intellectual property matters across a variety of sectors including pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and consumer products.

He has extensive experience in SEP/FRAND disputes and recent cases include Panasonic v Xiaomi, Lenovo v InterDigital, Lenovo v Ericsson and MediaTek v Huawei. Andrew regularly acts as coordinating counsel across global jurisdictions and he has played a pivotal role in successful outcomes for clients in global SEP/FRAND disputes, including being a key member of the team that successfully obtained an interim license for Xiaomi from the Court of Appeal in the Panasonic v Xiaomi case. He has been involved in numerous technical trials and has managed global validity and essentiality portfolio analyses for some of the world’s largest SEP holders.

Andrew’s strong technical background enables him to quickly get to grips with the most complex technical material. His previous case experience includes 3GPP, 3GPP2, IEEE, audio/video codecs and compression technologies, as well as organic chemistry, formulation science and e-cigarette/vaping technologies.
