Featuring John Kropf, Deputy Counsel on Privacy and Information Governance for Reed Elsevier and a former Deputy Chief Privacy Officer for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, this course provides an overview of key privacy issues surrounding the collection, use and disclosure of personal data by the federal government and commercial entities.
This class has three primary objectives:
(1) to give an overview of the ever increasing importance of data privacy issues as well as the laws and basic principles surrounding data privacy;
(2) discuss the key issues surrounding the collection, use, disclosure and protection of personal data by the Federal government; and
(3) discuss the key issues surrounding the collection, use, disclosure and protection of personal data by commercial entities.

If you are licensed in New York, this content is appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced New York attorneys. Although, this content is appropriate for all New York attorneys, newly admitted attorneys cannot earn CLE credit for the completion of the course when presented via on-demand.
